WHAT’S THE BEST OUTPUT MEDIA FOR OLD FILM?

8mm film resolves on average @ 800 lines of resolution and 16mm film @ 1200 lines of resolution, yielding perfectly to HD and beyond. Typical HD output formats include:

1. Blu-ray disc – 1080p
2. External Hard Drive – 1080p+
3. Cloud HD streaming files – 1080p

For viewing, Blu-ray and Cloud HD streaming files are the most common output option. DVD is NOT recommended, as approximately 75% of the original image quality is lost.

For editing, external hard drive is the most common output option.
